Solomua in the downtown

December 3rd, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

You always hear Solomua before actually seeing him. That’s because his style of preaching is loud and at the top of his lungs. So loud, he’s difficult to understand. When he’s out it’s always on Market Street, a few blocks each direction from Powell.

People give Solomua a wide berth with his animated style. Some might even think he’s dangerous. I’ve talked to him for a while the last couple times I’ve been out shooting and he’s very soft spoken. Solomua’s mission is to rid the world of evil, though it’s not clear to me how he want’s to go about doing that. Seeing my camera he did ask me to join him in his effort to help get the word out. He said he’s been preaching on the street for 15 years and has lived in San Francisco for 30.

Now that we’ve met, Solomua is one more person to check in with when I’m shooting in the Powell/Market area. That’s what’s great about shooting in the downtown; loads of interesting people to get to know…

Well, for Christ’s sake, if this guy wants to rid this world of evil I think he should be making his protest in front of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Just my opinion.

He is my brother and have not seen him a few years and he is still passionate about his beliefs. God Bless him and all of us.
