“Street Photography” – yay or nay?

Of course it is!

Some photographers who try and set the rules for others shooting on the street, saying the above is not candid (not that it’s important, but even confusing the meaning of candid as not being seen), would disagree. To that I say horse hockey!

My camera, my pixels, my street photo. For me, it’s about being out there, soaking in the energy of the street, and occasionally snagging a bit of that with my camera. It’s all good…

    Great shot. As far as I’m concerned – if it’s on the street and is obviously not some big artificial setup, then it’s street photography.

    The people who get all wrapped up in “candid only”, “fleeting only”, etc. are just entirely missing the point – and their photos usually start to represent it eventually.
