On Powell street portrait
January 18th, 2010 Posted in UncategorizedThis street portrait’s a little different. At the time I had a borrowed 15mm fisheye lens on my camera. And rather than disturb the moment to switch lenses and try and pose the subjects, I just snapped from a couple feet away and moved on. What I’m learning is that lens can be used on the street effectively, though you have to be aware of its effects.

Peculiar the absence of distortion.
The shorter lady looks up at the taller one almost as if seeking assurance, like a younger sister to her older sibling.

Luis, even though it was shot from a few feet away, I did a pretty tight crop in post – to minimize the distortion at the edges. Objects/subjects extending through the center are pretty much OK.
