Alcatraz
Awhile back I spent a lot of time at Alcatraz documenting as much as I could. I even spent two overnight trips there, hosted by SF PhotoAlliance. That was great because I had total access to the island, something regular visitors do not have access. The end result is this multimedia presentation I put together in Keynote. Hope you enjoy it… Click here for the presentation

Fine job putting this together, photos and information. Strong sense of drama, especially liked the bw work.

Holy monkey’s your images of Alcatraz are fantastic. I have a couple questions. I will be visiting the San Jose area in mid June 2011 and am dying to photograph Alcatraz. Do you know of anyone who is offering extensive tours of the rock? I have never been and want to get the full experience, such as what you have done. I’m a photo student here in Arizona at Arizona State. I have been shooting for over 20 years. Your entire site is great. Thank you for your time. Jason Llewellyn

Thanks Jason…
Right now the operator that handles Alcatraz tours offers two options; a day tour and a night tour. You need to buy tickets in advance because it’s a very popular destination.

I’d recommend going on the first boat over in the morning. That way there will be far less people on the island than if you were to go mid day with a few thousand people already there.
You’ll enjoy the experience. There’s nothing else like that place!
